Chinese Restaurant Online Menu Checklist
An online menu is not merely a digital copy of a paper menu. It is the restaurant's ordering interface, search surface, and trust signal.
Online menu checklist
- Use an HTML text menu rather than only a PDF or image.
- Make the menu readable on a phone without pinch-zooming.
- Show current prices and an updated date.
- Use clear section headings by restaurant format.
- Add short descriptions for unfamiliar dishes.
- Include Chinese names and pinyin where useful.
- Mark spice levels and common dietary signals.
- Show ordering phone number, address, hours, and ordering links clearly.
- Compress photos and use them selectively.
- Keep the website menu consistent with Google Business Profile and delivery platforms.
- Provide a print-friendly version or usable print layout.
- Test the menu with a first-time diner before publishing.
Menu systems work best when dish names, descriptions, and URLs are transcribed cleanly instead of buried in image-only menus or PDFs. Because Google uses mobile-first indexing, the important text and structure on menu pages need to work cleanly on phones as well as desktops. Schema.org includes Menu and MenuItem types, so item names, descriptions, and prices can be marked up as structured menu data.
Minimum standard
A minimum viable online Chinese restaurant menu should include: - Restaurant name - Address, phone, hours, and ordering link - Menu sections with HTML text - Dish names, prices, and short descriptions - Spice and dietary signals - Updated date - Mobile-readable layout
