Chinese Menu Section Decoder

Use this when the menu is long and you need to understand the function of a section before choosing dishes. Select the section that most closely matches what you see.

Many section names are really format signals, including siu mei, noodle soup, congee, chef's specials, clay pot, seafood tanks, and family dinners.

How to use the result

Use the output to decide whether the section should supply a starter, starch, vegetable, table anchor, or specialty dish. Then use the risk notes before assuming that a plain-looking dish is safe for a dietary restriction.
